Ke Kino Continuing Massage Education

Massage therapy is a skill that requires continuing massage education. A person does not spend six months learning and then practices exactly the same way day-in, day-out for the remainder of their career. Rather, it is a set of skills and experiences that evolves over time as a therapist learns and integrates into their craft new techniques and treatment philosophies that resonate with who they wish to be as a therapist, often informed by a specific population of clients they intend to help or by their own healing journey. Ke Kino’s aim as a continuing education provider is to offer high-quality, carefully selected continuing education courses to our local, regional, and national community of therapists. The selection of continuing education courses Ke Kino offers is based not only therapists’ feedback and what they tell us they are looking for, but also on an ethic to provide the highest caliber instructors and curriculum that we can.

Beyond Reflexology March 3rd 10am-5pm

More than just reflexology – we will be evaluating standing posture, mobility of the bony structure of the foot, and learn how fascial restrictions in the feet affect the rest of the body.

Introduction to Myofascial March 24th 10am-5pm

Fundamental skills to set you apart as a bodyworker. Myofascial work as Marni teaches it can be light or deep, but is effective and almost always pain free.

Upper Back April 7th 10am-5pm

Myofascial and Orthopedic techniques focused on treating common upper back complaints. Focus will include pectoral muscles, subscapularis, trapezius, latissimus dorsi, intercostal muscles as well as techniques to work with the rotatores and multifidus (small muscles around the vertebrae.

Neck Techniques May 19th 10am-5pm

This is an ADVANCED Class – built upon Marni’s years of treating cervical spine as a specialty. Safe, Gentle techniques for unwinding the neck, freeing cervical vertebra, and following fascial lines to determine root cause will be covered.

Introduction to Cranio-Sacral Therapy April 29-30

(2 day class) Taught at HandCrafted Therapy -An opportunity to learn the gentle palpation skills necessary to take your bodywork practice to the next level. Included: Palpating the Cranial Rythn, Inducing a Still Point, Fascial restrictions throughout the whole body, Major bones of the cranium. Register Here.

Balancing the Pelvis June 1st

This is considered an ADVANCED CLASS. Evaluation and treatment of pelvic inbalances. When the pelvis is mis-aligned, the entire body is affected (leg length, spinal curvature, even the eyes, jaw, and cranial bones will be affected. These techniques are gentle, fast, and easy on the therapist. NO high velocity is necessary.

Lower Back June 23rd 10am-5pm

Myofascial and Orthopedic techniques to address the most common causes of lower back pain, practicing specifically deep applications of myofascial release. Pain Free Psoas release, glute work appropriate for both spa and clinic work, and techniques for gently encouraging lumbar vertebra to find their optimal position will be taught.

Introduction to Energy Medicine July 14th

Introduction to working in the energy field of the body. Focus on this first class will be starting to feel energy and treating yourself. Reiki 1 attunement will be offered to all attendees. Class open to anyone, no prerequisites

Myofascial Cupping and Scar Tissue Release Aug 4th

A set of silicone cups is included with tuition. Learn to confidently add cupping to any session as a tool to release fascia and scar tissue.

Energy Medicine Level 2 Sept 15th

Practice using energy medicine as part of an integrative bodywork session. Continuation of Level 1 with addition of new concepts. Reiki 2 Attunement offered to all attendees.
